The family
of late Lt. Col. Abu Ali, the Nigerian hero and a nightmare of Boko-Haram insurgents,
who was unfortunately killed in the battle field in the war against Boko-Haram
terrorists, have concluded plans to hold a one year remembrance prayer in honor
of their late son on the anniversary of his demise.
Recall
that Late Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu Ali was amongst the gallant officers deployed
to the North-East of Nigeria ravaged by Boko Haram terrorists and he fought for
the glory of his country, laying down
his life in defense of his country, Nigeria.
In
a statement signed by the late Lt. Col.’s father, the Etsu Bassa Nge Kingdom,
Brigadier General Abu Ali (rtd) said their son paid the supreme prize by
confronting the Boko Haram terrorists in a fierce battle between the military
and the insurgents in Mallam Fatori town, North of Borno State at about 10:00pm
on Friday November 4, 2016.
According
to the statement, “He had premonition of his death when he was quoted as
saying: ‘Gentlemen, stay alert and be alive and be prayerful. I don’t want any
of my soldiers to be injured or lose his life in this operation and if at all
someone may go down, let me be the one’.
Few
hours after his death, the condolence message of President Muhammadu Buhari
described the late Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu Ali as an extra-ordinary officer who
inspired respect and adoration among those he commanded. The President said the
sacrifices by the late colonel and other fallen officers and men in the war
against terrorism in Nigeria would never go in vain.

“President
Buhari’s message delivered at the burial ceremony stated that the late Col. Abu
Ali and the other officers and men showed unalloyed commitment to the common
good of all Nigerians. “Their sacrifice, patriotism and indeed gallantry would
surely not go in vain”.
“Sarkin
Yaki” in Hausa language, which means ‘front line General’, you and your men
have fought a good fight”. The Etsu recalled the pronouncement of the Chief of
Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai at the burial ceremony of late Lt. Col.
Abu Ali and other six fallen soldiers in Abuja.
“He
said for the fact that Mohammed Abu Ali was always telling his men to stay
alert and stay alive, he would always be alive in the memories of Nigerians.
We at ArewaWatch pray that his soul rest in absolute and perfect peace.
