Kano: Shekarau, 2 others clinch APC senate tickets

Former Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, Senator Kabiru Ibrahim Gaya and Barau Jibril have emerged winners of the just concluded senatorial primary in Kano.

Shekarau secured 973,435, Gaya got 1,05057 votes and Jibril emerged unopposed.

The former education minister defeated Sulaiman Halili and Hajiya Laila Buhari who got 104 and 206 votes respectively.

Gaya in his part defeated Abdulrahman Sulaiman Kawu Sumaila and Alhaji Yahaya Isa Zarewa who secured 309,209 and 15,643 votes respectively.

It would be recalled that Senator Basheer Garba Mohammed Lado and Engineer Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo stepped down earlier before the conduct of the primary election.
