The Nigerian Army has completed arrangement to establish a military barracks in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Jos, Major General Benjamin Ahanotu, disclosed this when he paid a courtesy visit to Governor Darius Ishaku.

He told the governor that his visit was to inform him of the plan by the Nigerian Army to establish a military barracks in Jalingo and also to discuss other security issues with him

Governor Ishaku said he assumed office with the promise of ‘give me peace and I will give you development.’

He added that as the chief security officer of the state he cannot fold his arms to watch farmers being killed in their farms, adding that he wished the state was peaceful so that he could provide development to the people.

He commended the military for doing a good job and said the state government was ready to provide accommodation for the military in the state.

Darius also commended the Commandant 20 Battalion Serti Lt Col Abdullahi Anwar for his effort towards ensuring security in the state.

When the barracks is established in Jalingo, it will bring the number of military formations in the state to three after Takum and Serti.
