Police Arrest Robbers Who Terrorised Sokoto For 5 Years

Police in Sokoto has arrested some suspected armed robbers who have been terrorizing the state for over five years.

It also arrested some suspected drugs traffickers with cartons of codeine syrups.


Parading the suspects, Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Cordelia Nwewe said one Ali Abubakar of Yabo local government of the state had on February, 2 conspired with one Ahmed Abubakar from Kwara state and four others and attacked and robbed people at Saketa village in Bodinga local government area of the state.


She said that the suspects had during interrogation confessed that they were directed by one Nafi'u Umar who was the neighbour of the victims who was also arrested.


Nwewe said that one AK47, locally fabricated pistols, cutlasses and catriges were recovered from them, adding that the police were making effort to arrest three of the gang members who were at large.


Similarly, the command had arrested one Abubakar Muhammad of Baza Village, Ali Usman, Aliyu Abubakar of Sauro village who conspired with one Kiruwa Sahabi, Abubakar ND Jabbi from kebbi who are now at large to robbed one Abubakar Umar of Kurjnga village in Yabo local government, Injured him and demanded for N300,000. They also carted away his motorcycle Vale at N250,000.


They suspects were said to have also raped his wife before attacking another victim, one Kakale Maidawa and stoked his two dane guns.


She said that three of the suspects had been arrested and that effort was intensified to arrest the remaining ones.


Nwewe added that two drugs peddlers, were equally arrested, adding that they would all be prosecuted after their investigation.
