Why We Establish 17 Brigade In Katsina - Gen Buratai

The threat analysis carried out by the Nigeria Army necessitated the establishment of 17 brigade command in Katsina, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai has said


Speaking when he led top army chiefs to Katsina government house, Buratai said the army was very much concerned with security happenings across the county and decided to establish brigade to serve the Northwest zone.


According to him, the new formations and units being created across the country have the strong backing of the Military council and shall properly coordinate and execute military operations to better security operations.


He assured the state government for the military unflinching support and readiness to boost in not only the state but the country at large.


Responding, the state governor Aminu Masari said the army has in the last three years proved to be well positioned than ever in tackling security challenges across the country adding that Katsina being a border state with Niger is exposed to serious security challenges and needs the services of the army and other security operatives to adress the menace.


He said, the proximity of seven LGA's of the state to the dreaded Rugu forest has also made it vulnerable to several attacks by bandits and called on the military to help in safeguarding the state.
