Sokoto In A Path Towards Industrialization - Tambuwal

Efforts towards industrialization in Sokoto has yielded positive results with establishment of some factories in the state,Governor Aminu Tambuwal has disclosed.

"This initiative led to the establishment of an organic fertilizer plant, Sokoto textile factory, sugar processing factory, tomato processing factory among others scheduled to come on board soon, " he stated

The Governor who disclosed this at the 9th meeting of the National Council on Industries, Trade and Investment, said it was part of the state government's strategic plan towards creating enabling environment for investments.

He lauded Federal Government's drive to diversify the country's economy, adding that

Sokoto had already taken a cue from it.

According to him, his administration had given top priority to exploration of solid minerals deposits.

He pointed out:"We are making huge progress in harnessing those resources for the benefit of our people."

"We believe this will go a long way in complimenting paradigm shift agenda of Federal Government from oil to non oil sectors,"he added.

He assured potential investors of either free or negotiable tax In the state.

Tambuwal advised the National Council on Industry, Trade and Investment to embrace priority development approach as a way of addressing the ongoing marketing deficiency in the country.

This, he noted, would also ensure effective price management in the country.

The Governor also opined that priority attention should be given to product quality control mechanism and standardization to protect the consumers.

"At the same time the ease of doing business will be extended to small businesses by ensuring easy access to finance and other support services," he said.

In his remarks, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah said they were working with relevant stakeholders to drive implementation of the economic recovery and growth plan in order to create the right environment to attract industry, trade and investment into the country for enhanced economic growth and diversification.

He called on the states to cooperate with the federal government in its efforts to revamp the economy by implementing the plans.

The Minister said that recommendations of the last council meeting were being successfully implemented, which he said led to the recent World Bank ranking.
